Our Story

Hi! We’re glad you’re here.

Hello Writer is a project of Firefly Creative Writing, a small-but-mighty writing studio in Toronto, dedicated to helping people discover their writing voices. After 14 years, we wanted a tangible way to reach beyond our local community, and Hello Writer was born.
 
We love paper, treats and small, loving details, so once we got the idea, it was love at first sight.

There are two of us at the heart of this program, Firefly founder Chris Kay Fraser (she/her), and Hello Writer Manager Kitty Rodé (they/them). Chris writes the materials, and Kitty does the rest. There’s a lot of laughter, mistakes and joyful swooning when the packs finally arrive.

We love supporting other small local businesses. We work closely with Torpedo Marketing (we love you Robina!) who print and pack our materials. Laura Crocco is our designer and Soul Chocolate, right in our neighborhood, roasts and makes our custom bean-to-bar chocolates, which exceed Fair Trade designation. Our envelopes, fully recycled and printed using vegetable-based inks, are from Zebra Paper in North Toronto.
